More than just a name....Elmdale School Council uses a program called HOTLUNCHES for lots of things. As the name suggests, you CAN order Friday lunches for your kids. HOWEVER the system is also used for many other council initiatives: Elmdale Family Directory, and online ordering for fundraising purchases including coffee, Fun fair tickets, etc. By registering on this system, you are NOT committing to buying anything. You will be registering to receive information on all Council initiatives.
All other things are optional.

Every year school council prints a Family directory using elmdale.hotlunches.net contact information for families who opt-in to the printed directory when they register. Having the directory, means that you can get in direct contact with the parents for things like planning play dates/ birthday parties etc. To get a copy of the directory there is a nominal cost of $2 to cover printing etc.  You can order it online.They are sent out around Thanksgiving to allow for any class changes in September.

Council also provides opportunities for parents to purchase Pizza and Subs for Friday lunches.  Lunches are delivered during the first nutritional break of the day.  Lunches are as much a service to parents as they are significant fundraisers for the school.  Pizza Pizza and Subway are the vendors – both of which adhere to the nutritional guidelines provided by the school board.  The first pizza lunch is on Sep 28, so orders must be in by Sep 21 if you would like to purchase lunch for your students.  As always, fundraisers are run by volunteers, so consider signing up to help our volunteer teams run smoothly.

How to get started?

  Visit elmdale.hotlunches.net and click the Register tab

  • Access Code isEDHL
  • Click ‘Register Now’ button
  • Enter your phone number if you want it printed in the Family Directory N.B. number should be entered as 613-123-5678. No parentheses (see FAQs below)
  • To opt in to the directory check the box: 'Would you like to be included in our printed school directory?'.
  • Click ‘Register Now’ button

Under the PROFILE tab:      MANAGE CONTACT INFO

  • To include a second parent or guardian in the directory, please use the 'Add New’ button to add the second parent name and contact.
  • If you have elected to be in the Elmdale printed directory, all phone numbers and email addresses provided will be printed. If you do not enter a phone number none will appear.

Under the PROFILE tab:      ADD STUDENTS

  • select your child's homeroom teacher/class
  • Class Lists with contact information for your child’s class will appear online (in this program only -- and only with your consent.  To opt in, check the box: ‘Include on Class List’.
  • Click ‘Insert New’ button at the bottom to continue adding other students.

Place orders for each student if you wish.

  • directory and calendar items:  Select a child to receive the directory.  Pre-paid directories will be distributed in the backpacks in early October (after the school board confirms classes).  Calendars will be distributed immediately.
  • coffee order:  Make one order per family, so choose which child will receive the coffee to bring home.  There will be other coffee orders placed throughout the year.
  • pizza and sub lunches:  Select the days each child wants pizza or subs.
  • payment can be made for all items for your family at once.  You will be reminded of any balance owing.
  • If you choose to pay via cheque or cash, please print the remittance form(s) and send (with payment) to the office. Cheques should be made out to Elmdale School Council.
  • If you prefer to pay by credit card use the PayPal option. There is no need to send in a remittance form. Please note: There is a fee for using PayPal.

  • The system has been set up to send an email reminder on Thursdays for Pizza or Subs on Friday.  Please read it carefully to avoid disappointments.

Q. What is the access code required when I register?
A.
The access code is EDHL

Q.  Why is my name not in the Elmdale Family Directory?
A. 
Families must opt-in to the printed directory.  When registering, please click on the box ‘Would you like to appear in the printed school directory’?

Q. When registering, it says the phone number is optional. Does it matter?
A.
The phone number is optional but if you do not enter a number and choose to be listed in the directory you will NOT have a telephone number listed with your entry.  Additional phone numbers may be provided in the Contact Information tab.  Work numbers are never printed.  Don’t give a cell number if you don’t want it printed.

Q.  If I was registered last year do I need to register again?
A
. Yes. Because of privacy reasons, the system is cleared out at the beginning of every school year so all data has been wiped clean.

Q.  I don't buy lunches for my kids, why would I want to register?
A.
The only way to get listed in the Elmdale Family Directory is by registering in the system. NO PURCHASES ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER. Once registered you can CHOOSE which things you would like to participate in.

Q. When I register, it only takes MY name. How can I add my spouse/partner?
A.
If you would like more than one parent contact, simply "Add Contact". All contact information provided will appear in the directory next to your child. 

Q. Why does the system say my child is already registered?
A.
The system allows for one “family” account for each child. This prevents orders being placed for the same child by different parents. If your child resides separately with both parents, simply send us an email at elmdalehotlunches@gmail.com and we will be able to help you.

Q. What is the Elmdale Arts Calendar?
A.
This School calendar is produced by school council every year with art work from our Elmdale students during the previous year. It lists key dates such as Friday lunch dates (is it pizza or subs this week), ordering deadlines, school holidays and PA Days, and council meetings.  It is a wall calendar that has large spaces for organizing notes.

Q. Will my child get coffee at school?
A.
Council has made a deal with Bridgehead Coffee to support school fundraising activities and provide a discount on the bags of coffee beans or ground coffee that we order.  There are several times during the year that we can place orders for coffee so don't be too disappointed if you miss one.

Q. What should I do if I want to order both coffee beans and ground coffee of the same roast?
A.
If you have more than 1 child, make 2 orders -- one for ground coffee, one for beans.  If not, then email us at elmdalehotlunches@gmail.com.

Q. My child hates the kind of sub we ordered and he has 5 more in the session. Is there anything I can do?

A. You will not be able to make the change online however email us at elmdalehotlunches@gmail.com.  As long as the changes are done at least one week in advance, changes can be made.

Q. Can’t we get anything besides cheese pizza?

A. I am afraid the answer is no. Typically last year we were handing out almost 700 slices of pizza to over 400 children in a 10 minute period. Given the time frame and the number of volunteers, at this point we are unable to offer
